On International Volunteers Day 2018, our ISR® volunteer, Karishma Dhawan Seth, Head – HR, Apeejay Real Estate and Oxford Bookstores, took a session on resume writing and how to appear for job interviews for eight young boys and girls, under the aegis of Life Project 4Youth (LP4Y).“Giving job interviews is tough for all youngsters and even for the most seasoned job hunters from privileged backgrounds. A well written resume is the first step. I chose to train these 18-21 year old boys and girlsin writing resumes and giving job interviews which will make it easy for them to pitch themselves and bag job opportunities,” Karishma said. She taught them the difference between a CV and a Bio Data, how to prepare oneself for an interview, how to introduce oneself, what type of questions are asked by an interviewer,do’s and don’ts in a group discussion and behavioural etiquette needed for an interview. The session was held at the 2nd Floor Cafeteria of Apeejay House, Kolkata, which was turned into a mini-classroom. Apeejay volunteers across India have been working with the NGO since 2017 through various initiatives such as bakery trainings at Flurys, retail training at Oxford Bookstores and kitchen training at The Park Hotels. Cha Bar Connaught Place has also hired from these youth who are generally trained by the NGO and professionally trained by Apeejay Volunteers. Earlier in the year, another volunteer from the HR department had conducted a session on interview techniques for the youths of the NGO.
