Our ISR® volunteer from Apeejay Surrendra Management Services – Sumegha Baroi (Manager – Human Resources) taught 13 youths, aged 18 – 21 years, under the aegis of NGO Life Project 4 Youth (LP4Y), how to write a resume and gave them the much-needed training of how to face an interview.
She started with an ice-breaking session where she got everyone introduced. Then she told them why a CV is important for applying for a job and took them through a presentation where she explained the various parts of a CV. The youths then showed her their CVs, which they had been asked to bring. Sumegha went to them and suggested them to rewrite their CVs and come prepared in the next class when she would conduct a mock interview session.
This was followed by a mock interview session which she conducted for each candidate and provided feedback on how to improve their speaking skills and body language. This was followed by a question and answer session where she answered various queries put forward by the youths.
The youths came from economically weaker sections of the society and had to drop out of school due to lack of financial support and family pressure. By undergoing these sessions, they were able to understand what an organization wants to see in an applicant and which areas they should improve in order to be competent to work in a corporate office.
Sumegha summed up her experience saying, “I would like to thank the ISR® team for bringing me this opportunity. I feel happy that I have been able to contribute even a small step towards the betterment of our society and taking a step further in building the positive image of our organization.”
