COMPANIONSHIP

ISR® volunteers from Kolkata ushered in Durga Puja for 30 elderly women, who are residents of Mahila Seva Samity, an old age home in Sonarpur. The volunteers organized a cultural programme where two volunteers – Parama Dasgupta from Apeejay Surrendra Management Services and Apurba Bhattacharya from Apeejay Tea – sang Durga Stuti which was followed by a mesmerizing dance by Moumita Chakraborty from Apeejay Real Estate team, on a song sung by Debalina Basu Ray from Oxford Bookstore, Kolkata. After this, Sipra Jana of Apeejay Insurance, Apurba and Rammyanee Ghosh from Apeejay Surrendra Management Services then performed a dance recital on Rabindranath Tagore’s famous play “Chandalika” and ended the program with a group song. The elderly women also joined in and together they sang and shared stories of their youth, family and life so far. The volunteers presented the inmates with a DVD player and CD of a famous Bengali movie featuring Uttam Kumar and Suchitra to take them back to their old days.
